چکیده

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a hepadnavirus, small DNA that infects liver tissue, with some unusual replication steps share similarities to retroviruses. HBV infection can lead chronic hepatitis (CHB), life-long associated significant risks of disease, especially if untreated. global health problem, hundreds millions currently living CHB. Currently approved strategies prevent or inhibit are highly effective, however, cure for CHB has remained elusive. To achieve cure, elimination the functionally integrated covalently closed chromosomal (cccDNA) genome required. The capsid core an essential component replication, serving roles when establishing and in creating new virions. Over last two half decades, efforts have been made find characterize antivirals target capsid, specifically protein (Cp). interfere kinetics morphology termed assembly modulators (CAMs), extremely potent, clinical investigations indicate they well tolerated effective. Several CAMs offer potential by decreasing cccDNA pools. Here, we review biology focused on Cp, development inhibitors it.

Mutations in pre-core and basal-core promoter regions of hepatitis B virus in chronic HBV patients from Golestan, Iran

Objective(s): It has been reported that the mutation of the pre-core (PC) and basal-core promoter (BCP) may play an important role in the development of HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In this study the PC and BCP mutations were investigated in chronic HBV patients. Materials and Methods:In this study, 120 chronic HBV patients from Golestan, Northeast of Iran who were not vaccinated...

Hepatitis B virus capsid assembly Assembly pathway of hepatitis B core virus-like particles from genetically fused dimers

Background: We studied assembly of HBV capsids using a genetically-fused dimer. Results: Assembly intermediates composed of two, three and five copies of a fused dimer have been isolated. Conclusion: Capsid assembly could progress using dimeric, trimeric and pentameric intermediates. Significance: The low abundance and transient nature of assembly intermediates make analysis challenging, howeve...

Significance of Hepatitis B Core Antibody as the Only Marker of Hepatitis B Virus Infection in High Risk Patients

Background and Objective: Presence of hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc) in the absence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs) is defined, as isolated anti-HBc. little is known about the clinical significance of the isolated anti-HBc in hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections. The aim of this study was to assess the significance of anti-HBc as the onl...

Mutations at Nucleotide 1762, 1764 and 1766 of Hepatitis B Virus X Gene in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B and Hepatitis B-Related Cirrhosis

Abstract       Background and objective: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a DNA virus with high tendency toward hepatic tissue. There are currently about 3 million HBV-infected people and 350 to 400 million chronic carriers of this virus in the world. X protein plays a role in the over-expression of oncogenes, carcinogenicity of liver cells and overlaps with the basal co...

Distribution of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Genotypes among HBV Carriers in Isparta

The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotypes in Isparta, Southwest of Turkey, as well as the clinical features and transmission route for patients with HBV infections. Methods: Patients (n = 135) with HBV infection were included in the study. Epidemiological and clinical data were obtained. HBV genotypes were determined with a preS2 epitope ELISA ...
